This report describes work to measure contaminants in the Porcupine and Qamanirjuaq caribou herds in 2023, but also refers to results obtained from sampling the Leaf River herd and caribou from the south Baffin. Levels of most contaminants in the caribou sampled were not of concern with the possible exception of mercury and cadmium levels in the caribou kidneys. The report also suggest harvesting caribou for sampling with copper bullets to avoid contamination of samples by ammunition used.
